Although it may seem that Dracula is in fact guilty, I think that it is prominent that the accusers are the ones who should be accused here. Is Dracula innocent or guilty, there is in fact no question. The sad truth in fact is that Dracula is indeed innocent. Lucy could very well have been saved by the garlic despite the several efforts of Dracula and the wolf that could have been him as well. Lucy was in fact their responsibility and as their responsibility, they should have taken better care of her, and I mean stay by her side through the night, not take off the garlic necklaces, and especially Van Helsing who is obviously an expert on vampires, could have simply placed crucixes and crosses around Lucy to ward off Dracula, if it even was Dracula, because it could have been any vampire. Because of this failure to watch over Lucy, there is no hard evidence that Dracula is guilty and so because he cannot be proven guilty, he must be innocent.

Lucy's mother takes the garlic off of Lucy several times.

Van helsing doesn't allow him to kiss Lucy even if he wanted to give blood

Seward could've helped Lucy to take garlic off, knowing that it was annoying her
